RUTH

Ruth is a community-engaged performance that invites the audience to participate in a collective exploration of the question: “How can we survive on a damaged planet?”
Ruth, an enigmatic being that transcends time and space, is at the heart of this site-specific choreographic exploration. Through a fluid and dynamic movement language, the performance delves into questions of identity, memory, and our interconnectedness with the environment. The body becomes a vessel for expressing the complexities of Ruth’s nature and her relationship with the world. Paola Lesina’s evocative soundscape, blending ambient sounds, electronics, and vocal improvisation, creates an immersive atmosphere that amplifies the emotional intensity of the performance. The minimalist stage, adorned with light, projections, and symbolic objects, serves as a resonant space for the dance. Ruth’s interactions with these elements evoke a sense of mystery and transcendence. Francesca Cola has collaborated with a diverse range of communities to create multiple iterations of RUTH. This multi-sensory experience invites the audience to contemplate the nature of humanity, the power of memory, and our place in the cosmos.
